Be a leader

Leadership

In the Washington DC area, we see many advertising posters of graduate schools of management and universities. I saw this one at the metro station of Arlington, in Virginia, near the Arlington military cemetery.

What strikes me about these posters is that they all promise to transform their students into great leaders. Being a leader is considered as the most important thing to learn here in the US. But can we really be all leaders? Yes, to some extent, if we take “leadership” in a sense that includes pro-activity and ability  to make things happen in a group or community. So, why not?

You will never find such posters in Paris. Most people would find this kind of advertising over-the-top.
