Aetna is a major health insurance company in the US. My wife (and subsequently my son and I) is an Aetna client like most of International Monetary Fund employees in Washington.
Here in the US, healthcare can be super expensive, if you are not well-covered. Your coverage as a client/patient is highly dependent on the contract your employer has with a health insurance company of its choice. It is a significant component of the employer’s benefits package.
These days, in Washington, we can see massive advertising campaigns of Aetna and several of its competitors.
Since October, there have been rumors of acquisition of Aetna by the retail stores and pharmacies CVS. It would be a major move in the industry and a first worldwide. What would be the next step, build their own hospitals? Why not after all.
